PLANTED

Well I made the mistake of mentioning maybe starting a vegetable garden today in front of my aunt and mother. Before I knew it we were headed to Old Time Feed, the local seed, feed, and plant shop.

We had no idea what to plant and after what seemed like, and possibly was, hours at the store, we finally picked out some young plants and seeds and went home. I had picked out a 6x20 foot area for the bed, so I tilled it up. Thankfully the soil was fairly good up on this "plateau" and was full of worms, so I guess it is promising. Not too much of the clay that Baldwin County is famous for.

Today we got our Squash, Beans, Sweet Potato, and several varieties of tomato in the ground. Tomorrow I will plant the cantaloupe and when I return from school again I'll put some silver queen corn in maybe in a different part of the yard. Anyway, here's some pics.

The cat is apparently one that followed my brother walking home one day...I got home to find it sleeping and drooling on my bed. I figured it was just living with us now and went to sleep thinking nothing of it.

All night that damn cat was scratching at my arms and legs and if I tried to touch her she grabbed my hand with her clays and started chewing on it. I woke up to her licking my eye brow, so I just covered up my face and slept on my stomach. The next day I was pretty sore from how I slept.

I complained to my dad that our new pet wasn't too much fun and he was shocked. Apparently my family let it inside for part of the day sometimes but always put it outside at night to sleep...So hopefully I'm not gonna get some disease or something from this cat. Tonight it can sleep outside and keep the rabbits away from my plants...
